PLANET
Thread Tales are working towards reducing their carbon emissions; 98% of their manufacturing processes are hand-led and electricity-free, helping to reduce their carbon footprint. They also offset DHL flights of merchandise through DHL's Go Green programme. In the future, we would like to see Thread Tales fully outline their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions as well as their plans to both eliminate these and reach Net Zero.
PEOPLE
Thread Tales provide safe, dignified work and fair wages. They create work opportunities that are a source of pride and development for their craftsmen, not just income, and allow them to honour and preserve local artisanal skills.
ANIMALS
Thread Tales only use mulesing-free Merino, which means that their Merino sheep are not harmed in the production of Merino wool.
BUSINESS
Thread Tales are working on their circularity, with 40% of their cashmere being recycled from unravelled stock, and they’re moving towards a goal of 60-70% by 2025. They also work to make products from waste. Thread Tales provide detailed information about the sustainability of their Lotus fibres, and we would love to see this done across the business. Therefore, as a next step, we would love to see an annual impact report from Thread Tales in order to increase their transparency in the way they communicate their sustainability policies and practices.
