PLANET
tentree fully track, measure and account for their direct, indirect and supply chain scope emissions and have a Reduction Action Plan. While reducing, they are offsetting their emissions via projects that support solar power generation and community projects to reduce inefficient cookstoves. For every purchase, they plant ten trees and have already planted 54 million trees. As a next step, we would like to see a date for when ten tree plans to become Net Zero. 99% of their fibres are sustainable, including organic and recycled cotton, Tencell Lyocell and recycled polyster. They work with companies like UNIFI to repurpose ocean-bound plastics collected along coasts and rivers in developing countries and regions.
PEOPLE
tentree pay their employees above minimum wage and match the city’s living wage standards. They explicitly uphold DEI policies in their workplace policy and hiring practices. They also engage with local communities for volunteer work such as local food drives, clothing donations and more. Employees are offered flex days to allow staff to volunteer.
ANIMALS
tentree do not use any animal products.
BUSINESS
tentree are B Corp certified. Their design team work on staple designs rather than large catalogues of new products each year. They are also innovating to find new ways to encourage circular consumer behaviour, including designing a jacket with unscrewable buttons so that at the end of its long life it can be returned to the earth and is compostable. In 2022, they launched Circularity by tentree which enables customers to resell or recycle their pre-loved ten tree clothes. .tentree’s impact report contains a good amount of information.
