PLANET

Fed up that most expensive sunglasses brands break too easily, SunGod wanted to create high-quality eyewear that was both affordable and would last a lifetime. They are carbon neutral, working with Carbon Neutral - they’ve also gone the extra step of tracing back their emissions (from both products and production) since their inception, and offset those too. The whole frames and 50% of their lenses are made from recycled materials. All their packaging is made from recycled and recyclable materials, and they also work with Royal Mail for shipping - one of the most sustainable options.

PEOPLE

They’re based in the UK, although we’d like to see some more information about their supply chains and their initiatives to support diversity. They are a member of 1% for the Planet, giving a minimum of 1% of their revenue to sustainability-focused not for profits like Surfers Against Sewage or The Bike Project.

BUSINESS

Sun God became a B Corp in the summer of 2022 and have signed up to B Corp Climate Collective with the goal of reaching Net Zero by 2030. Circularity is a priority for them - not only are their sunglasses made of recycled materials, but they offer a lifetime guarantee - and they will repair any glasses that break (free of charge!). They’ve repaired over 6000 pairs since 2013. We’d love to see even more information about their sustainability policies and practices on their website, as well as an annual impact report, to help increase their transparency.
