PLANET
Pela are working to reduce their carbon emissions across their business. They measure their Scope 1, 2 and 3, their supply chain, and are Carbon Neutral Certified. They offset all their emissions through Carbon Neutral Standard, investing in renewable energy and reforestation. And they are working on reducing their overall emissions. Pela have also impressively saved the equivalent of 48,433,866 plastic bags from entering our oceans.
PEOPLE
Pela have collaborated with Wholesome Culture, and 5% of all sales from this collaboration are donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association. They’re also B Corp Certified meaning that they provide fair and ethical employment to their workers.
BUSINESS
Pela are a B-Corp Certified company, a member of 1% for the Planet and their products are fully circular which we love. They are on a mission to eliminate 10 billion pounds of waste from the global waste stream by 2028. They have launched the Pela 360 program which allows anyone to return their old cases (conventional plastic or compostable) for recycling, upcycling or composting. Pela has a good amount of information on its website on its carbon emissions, sustainable strategies and plans for the future. As a next step, we’d like to see an annual impact report and it’s plans for Net Zero.
