PLANET
Mother of Pearl aim to reduce their carbon footprint through minimising the geographical spread of their supply chain, resulting in reduced travel miles for their materials. They do not currently report their emissions, and we would like to see this on their website alongside their plans for reaching net zero.
PEOPLE
Mother of Pearl are based in the UK, and therefore we assume that they adhere to UK employment regulations. They have an ethics commitment in place for their factories and try to ensure social responsibility throughout their supply chain.
ANIMALS
Mother of Pearl use RWS-certified wool that they claim is mulesing-free.
BUSINESS
Mother of Pearl use certified sustainable materials such as GOTS-certified cotton and FSC-certified lyocell in their clothing. They also use GRS-certified recycled fabrics and deadstock material from their previous collections for their products. Mother of Pearl offer repair services for their clothing, and have teamed up with Curate & Rotate to sell preloved items. As a next step, we would like to see Mother of Pearl produce an annual impact report to increase the transparency of their sustainability policies and practices.
