Vivobarefoot
True to their name, Vivobarefoot offer barefoot shoes designed to help your feet move naturally. And what could be more natural than the organic cotton and wool that they use in their shoes?

PLANET
Vivobarefoot claim to track their scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, although we would like to see their measurements reported on their website. They are carbon neutral and support the Cordillera Azul National Park project in Peru, which aims to protect a large area of the Amazon rainforest from deforestation. As a next step, we would like to see Vivobarefoot share their plans for reaching net zero.
PEOPLE
Vivobarefoot are a UK-based company, and therefore we assume that they adhere to UK employment regulations. They have a Code of Conduct in place for suppliers that ensures adequate welfare standards for their workers.
ANIMALS
Vivobarefoot use Wool-mark certified wool and leather in their products. We would like to see Vivobarefoot provide more information on the animal welfare standards of their suppliers, such as whether their wool is mulesing-free.
BUSINESS
Vivobarefoot use some sustainable materials in their shoes, such as certified recycled plastic, although we would like to see them move away from the use of conventional cotton. They require suppliers providing wood or wood-based materials to be FSC or PEFC certified, and some of their supplers hold ISO 14001 certification, showing that they have environmental policies in place. In addition to sharing their own environmental policies, Vivobarefoot are invested in circularity, and offer options to rent kids shoes or return used footwear for refurbishing or recycling. As a next step, we would like to see Vivobarefoot further reduce the use of virgin materials in their shoes.
