PLANET
Monica Vinader tracks, measures and accounts for their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. They are working to reduce their emissions in order to reach Net Zero, and they continue to offset their current emissions by contributing to Gold Standard climate protection projects that prevent an equivalent amount of CO2 from entering the air as they emit. Monica Vinader also use recycled silver, which cuts down CO2 emissions by two thirds versus mined silver. They’ve gone one step further and now only use recycled gold in addition to recycled silver in their gold vermeil. In 2021, they were expected to save 2,275,623 kg GHG emissions by using recycled rather than mined gold and silver.
PEOPLE
Through their mine-to-market programme, they are striving to improve transparency on gemstone origins. We’re big fans of their “Product passport” supply chain transparency initiative, powered by blockchain technology and in partnership with the world's first net zero jewellery manufacturer, Ennovie, allowing customers to trace the origin of their jewellery; from design, materials sourcing, the craftsman, all the way to arrival at their doorstep. All of Monica Vinader’s supply partners have signed their annually reviewed Code of Conduct agreement, which sets out their commitment to responsible management, ensuring fair living wages and working hours, a safe and ethical working environment and to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion within their workforce. They have a Volunteer Time Off programme and, in 2019, they joined forces with Women for Women International to help women in conflict affected countries to rebuild their lives.
BUSINESS
Monica Vinader are championing circularity by using recycled materials in their products, they also have an anti-landfill policy where all of their discontinued products are sold through at fair prices rather than ending up in a landfill. Monica Vinader also have lots of information available on their website regarding their sustainability polices and practices, and also release an annual impact report which we love.
