PLANET

Micro Scooters is a certified Carbon Neutral business, meaning that they have calculated and offset their total emissions. Moreover, it has been estimated that at least 100,000 children scoot to school – compared to being driven, this has saved over 6.8 million kg CO2e of emissions. That being said, we would like to know more about what’s being done to reduce their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and the company’s plans for achieving Net Zero status.

PEOPLE

Micro Scooters is a woman-founded and led brand, however we would like to know more about the people in their supply chain. Micro Scooters lead a range of initiatives, including ScooterAid, a scheme allowing customers to donate old scooters which are then re-vamped and distributed to children in need across the UK. The brand hopes to increase donations yearly.

ANIMALS

The brand is committed to supporting marine life, including coral reefs, by removing plastic waste from the oceans. Micro Scooters decks are made using discarded plastic from the maritime industry, such as lost fishing nets and plastic waste. Plastics from the ocean is transformed into rPET, which Micro Scooters is using to roll out a range of accessories.

BUSINESS

Micro Scooters is B Corp certified. The brand has also been certified by Carbon Neutral Britain and is a member of 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of scooter sales to environmental charities, and 1% of accessory sales to Surfers Against Sewage. Micro Scooters values high quality and durability, and sells replacement parts so that their products can last “for a lifetime” or be handed down. They have a line of scooters which are designed to grow and adapt with the child, and other models have adjustable handlebars for the same reason. As a next step we’d like to see an annual impact report.
