PLANET
Guppyfriend’s washing bags prevent microplastics from contaminating water supplies. During production, their textile dyeing department cleans the water it uses to ensure that it can be safely fed into rivers. They currently do not report their scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and we would like to see this alongside their plans for Net Zero.
PEOPLE
Guppyfriend produce their washing bags in factories located in Portugal and Poland, and ensure that these employees have reasonable working hours and a fair wage. They source the materials for their bags from Italy and Portugal.
BUSINESS
Although Guppyfriend use polyester to make their washing bags, it is designed to not shed microplastics. In addition to stopping the release of microplastics, their washing bags also help to prolong the life of clothing through reducing abrasion during the washing process. Guppyfriend also support the STOP! Micro Waste Charity that aims to raise awareness of microplastics. As a next step, we would like to see an annual impact report from Guppyfriend outlining their sustainability policies and practices such as how they reduce waste during their production process.
