PLANET
Finisterre measure and account for their carbon emissions in an annual impact report, including, importantly, scope 3 which is their supply chain and accounts for 93% of their emissions, as well detailing their plans to eliminate these. They take an innovative approach to materials – investigating different organic natural fibres recycled polyester in place of down, and yulex natural rubber instead of neoprene. Finisterre are committed to going beyond Net Zero, towards a net positive environmental impact, which we love to see.
PEOPLE
Finisterre are transparent about their supply chains, which must adhere to their Code of Conduct, which is third party regulated by Fair Working Conditions through compliancy audits. They have easy to access information about their various suppliers on their website. They also support the charity City Kids Surfing, through the Finisterre Foundation, giving their kit and time, as well as funding, to support this.
ANIMALS
The wool in Finisterre clothing is fully traceable from farm gate to factory door, which links brands with producers, which are Red Tractor certified. All of their jackets are down-free, with their own engineered insulation as an alternative.
BUSINESS
Finisterre is a certified B Corp. They also release an annual impact report which details their sustainability policies and practices. Finisterre promote circular consumerism; their collaboration with Reskinned, takes old finisterre gear and reconditions it for resale, as well as providing a convenient repair service. They continuously conduct new product Life Cycle Assessments to keep improving the sustainability of their products.
