Canned Wine Co are in the process of tracking and measuring their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. By selling their wine in cans as opposed to glass bottles, they effectively cut their carbon footprint by three quarters. Cans can also be recycled infinitely with no loss in quality and require 90% less energy than recycling a glass bottle. We’re excited to see the results of their research into their full carbon footprint.

Canned Wine Co are based in the UK, with production based in Europe. We assume they adhere to the employment regulations in all regions.
BUSINESS
Canned Wine Co intend on disrupting the traditional wine industry that relies heavily on glass bottles, with a much higher associated carbon footprint compared to alternative packaging such as cans, bag-in-box or kegs. They aim to make wine much more sustainable by reducing wastage in single serve cans, lowering transport and refrigeration emissions, as well as increasing recyclability of wine packaging. They are also a co-founder of the Wine Traders for Alt Formats (WTAF) association promoting low-carbon practices in the wine industry. Canned Wine Co are currently in the process of becoming a certified B Corp, but have already earned the Butterfly Mark from Positive Luxury. As a next step, we would like to see an annual impact report in order to increase their transparency around their sustainability policies and practices.
