PLANET
While Bower Collective have been certified carbon negative by Planet Mark, it is not clear if this includes their supply chain - Scope 3. They have significantly lowered their carbon footprint by ensuring that over 90% of their products are produced locally. They are off-setting their carbon emissions through protecting Colombian rainforests as well as through partnering with the Marine Conservation Society which protects endangered seagrass, the single most important species in the seas for locking in C02. In the last year alone, Bower Collective helped protect 49,077m2 of endangered seagrass and eliminated 14,237kg of plastic waste. We’d love to see Bower Collective share more details on their plans as to how they will arrive at Net Zero and over what time frame.
PEOPLE
40% of the Bower Collective team are women, many of them occupying senior positions. As well as allowing for remote working and providing a strong team culture, Bower Collective ensure that their supply chain is both ethical and transparent. Their suppliers all meet the Ethical Trade Initiative Code which, among many things, ensures fair working conditions for its workers.
ANIMALS
Bower Collective are certified by both the Vegan Society and the Leaping Bunny. Their products are predominantly vegan, with the exception of some products that contain beeswax, collagen and silk powder.
BUSINESS
Bower Collective are B Corp certified and work to create completely circular products. They have twice won a Marie Claire Sustainability Award. According to their Life Cycle Analysis, 10 cycles with Bower Collective are 90% more carbon efficient than single-use plastic. We love that they have an annual impact report which measures their impact and are working hard to be completely transparent and to carry on improving their sustainability policies and practices. We’d like to see a more granular breakdown measuring their Scope 1, 2 and 3.
