PLANET
Bike Club seeks out suppliers who use aluminium or steel frames for their bikes due to the lower amounts of CO2 produced during manufacture. They currently do not track their scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and we would like to see this alongside their plans for Net Zero.
PEOPLE
Bike Club provides their workers with a fair wage and reasonable hours, as per UK employment regulations and B-Corp standards. At Green Salon, we love that Bike Club is co-founded by a woman, Alexandria Rico-Lloyd. As a next step, we would like to hear more about their supplier requirements for worker welfare.
BUSINESS
Bike Club is built on a circular business model, with all of their bikes reused and recycled rather than sent to landfill. Their ReBike exchange scheme allows bikes to be swapped out for bikes of different sizes. They estimate that over their lifetime, each of their bikes will save roughly 336kg CO2 in comparison to owning a bike. As a next step, we would like to see an annual impact report from Bike Club outlining their sustainability policies and practices, such as further detail on how they vet their suppliers.
