PLANET
Baukjen is working to reduce their emissions, with their relative carbon emissions 26% lower than the same period in 2020. They also invest in carbon reductions and certified offsets, meaning they currently capture more carbon than they are responsible for emitting. They currently measure the carbon emissions of their business across scopes 1, 2 and 3 (including the production of their garments and trims from cradle to grave) using secondary data.
PEOPLE
Baukjen partner with Oxfam in the fight against Poverty, with a percentage of revenue from their Pre-Loved collection being donated to them.
ANIMALS
Baukjen source ethically produced animal products and are actively researching vegan alternatives. Baukjen’s leather is a by-product of the meat industry, the farms where their leather comes from rear their animals outdoors and feed them on local grasslands and with locally sourced grain - nothing is flown in or complicit in deforestation.
BUSINESS
Baukjen is a certified B Corp, in fact they’re in the top 5% of all B Corps as a 'best for the world' company. They also won the 2021 UN Global Climate Action Award. They are developing a circular fashion business model through their Pre-loved scheme, which is designed to radically increase the rate of re-use and recycling. We’re impressed with Baukjen’s commitment to transparency, and love that they release quarterly reports on their sustainability mission.
