PLANET
Bambaw’s company, supply chain, and transport are certified carbon neutral by the CO2 Logic label. They offset their emissions through supporting the cookstove climate project in Malawi. Bambaw also aim to reduce their waste production and greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible, although they have not indicated how they aim to reduce these. As a next step, we would love to see plans on their website of becoming net zero.
PEOPLE
Bambaw are a Brussels-based company, and therefore adhere to EU employment regulations. They are engaged in Bolivia and Burkina Faso for humanitarian projects, and partner up with NGOs that conduct research on plastic pollution. We would like to hear more about their worker welfare alongside information on who Bambaw’s suppliers are.
ANIMALS
Bambaw claims that some of their products are vegan and cruelty-free, and we would like to see certification of this. We would also like to hear more about their non-vegan and cruelty-free products.
BUSINESS
Bambaw’s main materials are bamboo, stainless steel, and coconut. All of their products are from FSC certified forests, and they use cotton, bamboo, and coconut which are certified organic by the Organic 100 Content Standard. As Bambaw claims that they use stainless steel due to its high recycling rate, we would like to see them clarify whether they use any recycled stainless steel in their products. In the future, we would love to see an annual impact report to increase the transparency of Bambaw’s sustainability policies and practices, such as how they vet their suppliers and the measures that they have in place to protect the environment during production.
