PLANET
Aesop fully outlines their scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and have recently reached carbon neutrality across their global business. They also have outlined plans to reduce their emissions and reach net zero by 2030. They are working in partnership with their suppliers to help reduce emissions, whilst also prioritising the protection of communities which are disproportionately impacted by climate change. Our one caveat is that they are owned by Natura & Co which is the world’s biggest B-Corp and owns other brands including Avon which is not a sustainable brand.
PEOPLE
Aesop’s Ethical Sourcing Programme aims to ensure that all its suppliers use environmentally responsible processes, provide safe working conditions, treat all workers with dignity and human rights are held paramount throughout the supply chain.
ANIMALS
Aesop’s products are vegan, and are Leaping Bunny approved.
BUSINESS
Aesop is a certified B Corp. They also release annual impact reports, of both their individual business, and also Natura & Co which owns them. These contain details about their sustainability policies and practices, including their carbon emissions. In order to increase their circularity, Aesop has rolled out a refill scheme at their stores in Australia - we’d like to see this make its way to the UK.
