PLANET
Asket have set out to ensure that every ounce of CO2 and every drop of water is accounted for. They use mechanical dyeing to reduce water use significantly, do not use synthetic chemicals, and use a high proportion of recycled fabric or sustainable fabric. Last year, all but 6% of their raw materials were made with sustainable fabrics, the majority of which came with certifications like Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). These partnerships have allowed Asket to build a transparent supply chain.
PEOPLE
Cotton farmers with families and communities benefit from their partnership with GOTS, as they don't deal with toxins and usually have better working conditions overall.
ANIMALS
All of their Cashmere sweaters are made of 97% recycled cashmere, with the remaining 3% recycled lambs wool. They have banned many materials which are derived from animals, particularly virgin ones.
BUSINESS
Asket seeks to be fully transparent about their garments, and states the CO2 impact, water consumption, energy usage, and minimum lifetime of some items. They also have a breakdown of their production costs, bypassing wholesale to sell directly to customers. They’re aiming to launch impact receipts for all of their garments following full assessments and calculations. They offer a Care Program, Repair Program, and Revival Program for their products, highlighting circularity. They have a repair guide online, and spare parts are only sent upon request. Worn out garments can also be sent back in exchange for a voucher. Last year, they published a progress report covering transparency, responsibility and operations – but also reflected on their shortcomings which we’re impressed to see, as it shows their commitment to improve. We would like to find out more about their working standards and initiatives for employees.
