PLANET

886 by The Royal Mint measures all their emissions from their direct emissions to their supply chain emissions through their parent company, The Royal Mint. The Royal Mint is aiming to become Net Zero by 2050, and has developed science-based targets for its emissions reduction plans. We’d like to see more ambition with this goal.

PEOPLE

886 by The Royal Mint is a UK based business, and therefore we assume they adhere to UK employment regulations.

BUSINESS

According to their statistics, about US$57 billion worth of precious metals are contained within electronic waste, with less than 20% currently being recycled world-wide. 886 by The Royal Mint works with the Betts Metals Group and Excir to recover gold and silver from these discarded materials, alongside used x-ray films from medical equipment, to ensure that nothing goes to waste. These materials are then used to craft beautiful jewellery covered by a lifetime guarantee. Although the majority of their pieces are purely metal, they also feature jewellery using lab-grown diamonds, a less-polluting and more ethical alternative to mined stones.
