3 of our favourite planet-friendly kids clothing brands.
Sustainable kids clothing is a no brainer. Our little ones are growing up on a struggling planet and so the idea of dressing them in a way that further damages it can feel counter-intuitive to parents. Luckily, there are plenty of eco-friendly and kid-friendly brands to choose from and the number is growing all the time. Here’s 3 of the best.
With our kids romping around in their clothes and constantly growing out of them, it can be easy to spend your life shopping around for children’s clothes. Just got a little blue jacket for your 6 year old? Whoops it doesn’t fit anymore. A pair of khakis? Torn at the knee.
So how do we keep their wardrobes stocked without running out of cash and adding to the mountain of discarded clothing in the world?
At Green Salon, we've analysed lot of clothing companies, including kids clothing brands, against our 70+ sustainability criteria, and we’ve checked their reviews for quality. You can find them in the Kids Directory, organised by rating & price range.
You’ll notice that they only go up to 12 years old. That’s because there’s a major gap in the market for top quality sustainable clothes for teenagers. If you’re looking for clothes for them, the go-to app for pre-loved teen clothing is Depop or Vinted.

TÖASTIE Kids (6 months-12 years)
An outerwear store with a passion for nature, TÖASTIE provides your little person with rainwear, puffer jackets, gilets, pram suits and outdoor accessories. Founders Kirstie and Lucinda are big on educating children about the planet and we love that they create free, downloadable information for our kids on all things natural.
Their raincoats, dungarees and parkas are made from plastic waste, and other products use regenerated down and feathers from pre-loved bedding - so kids will do as little harm to the earth as possible while they learn how to save it!
TÖASTIE use a beautiful earthy colour palette, making their products look perfect in the great outdoors. We love their 3-in-1 raincoats - a lightweight puffer zips inside the raincoat so your kids can use it throughout the seasons.
TÖASTIE are carbon neutral, and we hope to see a goal date soon for their full transition to Net Zero. Their offsetting goes straight to the Pacajai project, which prevents unplanned deforestation in the Amazon rainforest plus 1% of their sales revenue goes to non-profit partners that benefit environmental causes. They have recently become a B-Corp.
Polarn O.Pyret (0-12 years) ❀
If you’re looking for a one-stop-shop to stock a child’s wardrobe, look no further. Clothes, outerwear and accessories for 0-12 year-olds are the name of the game for Polarn O. Pyret*. We love their transparency, with clear sustainability figures and goals for the next few decades, reducing emissions by reducing seasonal production, using renewable energy in-store and cutting out air transport.
Their designs range from patterns bursting with personality to brilliant basics to cater to all your kids wardrobe needs.
Many of their styles are designed to grow with your little one so that they last as long as possible – think roll-down sleeves, adjustable waists and extendable bodysuits. Plus, Polarn O.Pyret clothes are made to out last at least three children, so when your outerwear finally becomes too small, you can send it back in exchange for a voucher and it will go to a new home.
With a re-use system done this well, it’s no wonder that they have partnered with thelittleloop to make Polarn O.Pyret clothes available for rental.
Little Green Radicals (0-12 years) ❀
Little Green Radicals* say that ‘nothing is beautiful unless it is made in the right way’ which is a motto to aspire to. They recycle plastic bottles into rainwear, making use of post-consumer waste, and you can return wearable pre-loved Little Green Radicals clothes through their partners, the gloriously named SuperLooper, where they’re made available for rental.
Their dresses are our personal favourites, just perfect for the summer months ahead.
Organic cotton keeps rivers, lakes and drinking water cleaner, and leads to almost 50% less greenhouse gas emissions than non-organic cotton, so it’s organic all the way for Little Green Radicals.
They use a fair-trade, family-run producer in India who collaborate with Swadhina, an organisation that works to provide steady pay for women in rural India, helping them to become independent, empowered, and self-reliant. Just like we’d like our kids to grow up to be.

We analyse each brand for their commitment to sustainability but we are not a certification body, nor are we auditors, and we have taken the approach that we trust brands to tell the truth about their sustainability policies, practices and plans.
