Veo describes themselves as a carbon positive company, saying “all emissions from the manufacturing process are counterbalanced throughout the entire supply chain” but are vague on details on their carbon emissions on their website. Veo does say they offset all aspects of the lives of their employees and their technology infrastructure is run on 100% renewable energy. Like Green Salon, they only feature brands that score well on their sustainability criteria. As a result, Veo scores in the top 5% of 5,000 global B Corps - and were Ethical Consumer's most ethical online retailer for 3 years running. As a next step, we would like to see more information on Veo’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and what it is doing to reduce them.
PEOPLE
Veo is a UK-based company and therefore we assume they adhere to UK employment laws and regulations. On their supply chain, they say the brands they feature must uphold ethical labour standards and have no discriminatory policies in place,
ANIMALS
Veo’s products are 100% Vegan, and are PETA approved.
BUSINESS
Veo are a certified B Corp. Their mission is to eliminate single-use plastic from their platform but they do not give a date for when that will be. As a next step, we would like to see an annual impact report from Veo in order to see more granular detail on their emissions and clearer details on how they are checking that the brands they feature are living up to their claims.
