PLANET
Organic Basics use only GOTS cotton and natural dyes from herbal industrial waste that would otherwise go to landfill. They are planning to reduce their emissions by 50% by 2025, and have published their plans for this alongside their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in an impact report. Organic Basics offset their emissions with One Carbon World.
PEOPLE
Organic Basics pay a living wage in their supply chains and carry out regular audits to make sure working environments are regulated to a high standard.
ANIMALS
For their small percentage of virgin wool or cashmere products (0.1% of their total materials) Organic Basics have been certified by PETA. The majority of their wool material is recycled.
BUSINESS
Organic Basics are driving circularity in their business via their large use of recycled materials, as well as making dyes from waste. They encourage recycling and are beginning a take back scheme for old garments. They are also a certified B Corp produce an annual impact report. As a next step, we would like to hear more from Organic Basics about how they protect the environment during production.
