PLANET

Nisolo track all their emissions from their headquarters to their raw materials and working to reduce them. We would like to see a clear plan to reduce them to Net Zero by a certain date. They are currently certified Carbon Neutral. Nisolo offset 100% of their emissions through a 3rd party verified REDD+ conservation project in the Peruvian Amazon. They do not use any oil-based materials or synthetics like polyester in their primary raw materials and are committed to never using plastic or fossil fuel based materials unless they are 100% recycled and recyclable at the end of their life. We like their Sustainability Facts label for each of their products.

PEOPLE

Nisolo has a very clear relationship with each of its suppliers. Within Nisolo’s supply chain, 75% of their factories provide opportunities for continued education such as hosting in-factory classes to help employees complete their secondary education and partnering with universities to provide discounts for those who want to pursue a college degree.

ANIMALS

All of the leather Nisolo uses is a byproduct of the meat industry. 95% of their leather uppers originate from Leather Working Group Certified tanneries, which meet the highest standard of environmental responsibility in our industry.

BUSINESS

Nisolo is a certified B Corp. They are increasing the circularity of their business by offering customers a Shoe Reclamation Programme, since the launch, Nisolo have collected and diverted 7,052 pairs of used shoes from landfills, and have donated these to Soles4Souls. Nisolo provides good information on their sustainability policies and practices via their website and an annual impact report. Next, we’d like to see more data on their emissions reduction plan.
