PLANET
Naturalmat are working hard to reach Net Zero; alongside expert consultants, they are tracking their emissions, and plan to eliminate their scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025 and their scope 3 by 2030. Naturalmat source their wool from local farmers, supporting South West businesses. They are also a Fair Trade company, as well as having a certified organic plantation in Sri Lanka. Naturalmat are Soil Association certified and follow regenerative principles designed to increase biodiversity, and put organic matter back into the soil so that it can sequester carbon as well as creating positive social outcomes for farmers and workers.
PEOPLE
Naturalmat are a certified Living Wage Employer, and provide safe working conditions according to the International Labor Organization guidelines. They do not allow child labour and discrimination. Naturalmat are forming impactful charity partnerships to tackle bed poverty. For example, by donating mattresses to Exeter City Living who build affordable and social housing to Passivhaus standards.
ANIMALS
Naturalmat are certified Organic Farmers & Growers, a certification which ensures the highest welfare standards for the sheep. While their wool is organic, we would like more information on their sourcing of mohair.
BUSINESS
All of Naturalmat’s products are fully biodegradable or recyclable. They are the first UK manufacturers to offer a closer loop manufacturing system for their mattresses. We love that they have an impact report which is both clear and transparent. As well as this, Naturalmat have certifications for almost every material used which is impressive.
