Kiss the Hippo’s coffees, coffee pods and coffee products are all certified carbon negative. They work with On A Mission to fund reforestation projects around the world. They also plant a tree in an ecoforestry project in Nepal for every subscription to grow the #KissTheHippoForest. As a next step, we would like to see a full breakdown of Kiss the Hippo’s emissions.
PEOPLE
Kiss the Hippo often pay their farmers over twice as much as Fair Trade would. They work with the Just a Drop clean water foundation and supply Mwambui Secondary School in Kenya with safe water.
BUSINESS
Kiss the Hippo were the first coffee roaster to attach their growth to the funding of the Kew Gardens coffee research program - an initiative they support with 2 pence for every kilo of coffee you buy. . They champion circularity by sending all of their used coffee grounds to bio-bean to be transformed into advanced biofuels. We’d like to see an impact report from Kiss the Hippo’s outlining more detail on their sustainability mission.
