PLANET

Herd use a hyper local supply chain for production which greatly reduces their shipping emissions. They are also encouraging the use of regenerative methods of sheep grazing for their farmers, which helps to sequester carbon. As a next step, we would like to see Herd report their scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as well as share their plans for reaching Net Zero.

PEOPLE

Herd are a UK based business, and therefore we assume that they adhere to UK employment regulations. They source their wool from UK suppliers.

ANIMALS

Herd use wool and peace silk in their products. They currently do not provide information on the policies in place to ensure the welfare of the animals.

BUSINESS

Herd’s wool is manufactured using plant-based dyes and detergents, and they avoid synthetic materials in their clothing through the use of nuts for buttons, cotton for labels, and peace silk for trimmings. They are working in collaboration with a plant expert and dye house to develop vibrant plant dye shades and aim to pioneer the development of plant dyes at scale. As a next step, we would like to see Herd produce an annual impact report.
