PLANET
Edward Bulmer have worked with Green Element to measure their scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. They claim that their scope 3 emissions are carbon neutral and offset by AURO, and they offset their scope 1 and 2 emissions with The Gold Standard Carbon Initiative. As a next step, we would like to see Edward Bulmer’s plans for reaching Net Zero.
PEOPLE
Edward Bulmer is a living wage employer. They are also UK based, so we assume that they adhere to UK employment regulations. Their supplier, AURO, is based in Germany, and vets their supply chain so only materials with assurances of social responsibility are used. They prioritise obtaining raw materials that protect indigenous lifestyles, such as buying dammar resin from the local people in Sumatra.
ANIMALS
Edward Bulmer claims to be 100% vegan and cruelty free. As a next step, we would like to see certification of this such as Leaping Bunny.
BUSINESS
Edward Bulmer avoid adding petro chemicals and ensure that the majority of their paint is plastic-free, with only small amounts of plastic present in their wood paints. They use plants and natural substances such as clay to form the base of their paints, and make the colour using natural pigments. Their packaging is made from recycled fibre, pulp, and cardboard, and their paint is made to order to reduce waste. They currently plan to set up a scheme to take back leftover paint and packaging for recycling, and we look forward to seeing this in the future. As a next step, we would like to see Edward Bulmer provide more detail on the measures that they have in place to protect the environment during production.
