PLANET
COAT has been carbon neutral since day one and are now Carbon Positive, meaning they double offset their Scope 1-3 emissions with Carbon Jacked, who are Gold Standard certified, which we like to see. All of their range is entirely water-based and low toxin (VOC) - their paints are solvent-free and their painting supplies are made from sustainably sourced bamboo, recyclable metal and recycled filaments - even their wooden stir sticks are FSC certified. COAT paints are sourced and manufactured entirely in the UK, and in Belgium for EU customers, to minimise shipping distance, and they use Carbon Neutral delivery partners.
PEOPLE
A UK-based company, we assume their working standards are high. They donate to Crisis each quarter.
ANIMALS
All of their paints are 100% animal cruelty free.
BUSINESS
COAT paint is a B-Corp company, and publish yearly Sustainable Principles reports, although a bit more data on their Annual impacts would be great. COAT Paint offers closed-loop tin and paint recycling - any COAT customer can send back their empty tins or unused paint, and they’ll process them fully for recycling, meaning the tins, handles, and most importantly any excess paint is recycled.
