PLANET
Ancient + Brave are a proud B-Corp certified brand, with their score of 107 making them one of the highest scoring wellness brands in Europe. They ensure all of their products are sustainably sourced, using only organic ingredients where possible. Their True Collagen occurs as a natural waste product of the food industry and is sourced from the EU. They are climate neutral and members of 1% for the planet, but going forward we would like to hear more about their suppliers and scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
PEOPLE
Since Ancient + Brave are based in theUK and their True Collagen suppliers are based in the EU, we assume they adhere to fair labour laws. However, we would like to see more information in the future on their other suppliers and also more detail on both their and their suppliers’ interaction with local communities. Ancient + Brave do make charitable donations to both 1% for the Planet and Rainforest Concern.
ANIMALS
Ancient + Brave offer some certified vegan products and ingredients. Their True Collagen suppliers are members of the Gelatine Manufacturers of Europe (GME) and adhere to EU animal legislation welfare, meaning the cows have been raised without unnecessary medications or GMOs. Their Wild Collagen is a by-product that comes from wild caught, certified MSC fish.
BUSINESS
As their type 1 collagen occurs as a natural by-product of the food industry, Ancient + Brave are able to improve the circularity of their business. They reduce their waste by offering a powdered product, available in glass jars or compostable pouches. As they are B-Corp certified, we are confident that their sustainability claims are regularly checked. Going forward, it would be beneficial to release an impact report, and potentially introduce a recycling scheme.
