The Green Restorer

CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING THE GREEN ARCHETYPES QUIZ!

ACCORDING TO YOUR RESULTS YOU ARE THE GREAT CONNECTOR.

Your harmonious nature means that you have the gift of bringing people together to restore the planet. Your eco-system of friends, colleagues and family is your greatest asset in spreading the word about the joys of green living. Like an oak tree, you have deep roots in the community and branches that offer shelter to those around you. From this vantage point, you also have a gift for seeing the bigger picture of how we can restore balance to the earth’s biosphere.

As someone who likes harmony, you can feel off-balance when the social conversation becomes fractious. This, and the speed of modern life, can leave you feeling stressed and anxious.

To find your balance, make space in your day to breathe in peace and relaxation. Trust that life is unfolding exactly as it should.

(With your inquistive mind, you’re likely to want to check the answer to the plastic question: it is 9%. That’s right just 9% of plastic gets recycled globally, which as a Green Restorer is likely to be something you want to change.)

“The goal is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe,
to match your nature with nature.”
- Joseph Campbell

And 3 resources for embracing the Journey of Green Living

1 CONNECT WITH THE WISDOM OF NATURE

When we’re children we intuitively know how to be in Nature but as adults we tend to walk through it as if it was wallpaper. We no longer have much space to pause, to look up at the sky, the branches of the trees or to run barefoot in the grass. To reconnect with the wisdom of nature, we need to slow right down and focus on the flicker of light on leaves, the touch of a light breeze on our skin or the earth beneath our feet. By reconnecting with Nature we become less caught up in our busy minds and more in tune with ourselves and this glorious planet we call home.

2 GROW A GREEN MINDSET

Nature is not just our healer but also our guide. Nature’s systems are inherently balanced in their design. Nature is circular - the oak tree’s leaves fall to the ground in autumn, forming a natural compost that feeds the trees roots - and zero waste - even the acorn casings become food for worms which turn them into soil. We can grow a green mindset by following Nature’s patterns and observing how, rather than judge her progress, she steadily moves forward. Imagine how much you too could achieve if you turned your energy away from judging towards simply being.

3 BUILD YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL RESILIENCE

Living a green life means transitioning from one set of habits to another. This can feel like hard work for the brain which prefers to cruise on autopilot. To make it easier we can harness two emotions: celebration and self-compassion. By celebrating our wins each time we choose the sustainable option, we light up the dopamine reward circuit in our brains. And if we’re gentle on ourselves when we forget, or get too busy, we lose our fear of failing to “get it right”. This helps our mind experience the transition as enjoyable rather than stressful and builds our mental resilience to keep going.

Hello, I’m Lucy Johnson!

Like you, I’m a Green Restorer who loves bringing people together to restore the planet.

Green living is about connection and empowerment. That is exactly what I do. I connect people to Nature’s intuitive wisdom - and their own. I believe this reconnection is what gives us the psychological resilience to adapt to our changing world and the motivation to keep going on our journey to a greener life.

A bit about me: working as a political and environmental TV reporter 20 years ago opened my eyes to the destruction we are wreaking on the planet. In struggling with my own eco-anxiety, I retrained as a psychotherapist and I now use integrative therapy, eco-therapy and coaching to help people reconnect with Nature and reclaim their calm.

Through my sustainability coaching, I support individuals and groups both psychologically and practically in the steps that we can all take to decarbonise our lives and ease plastic and damaging synthetic chemicals out of our homes.

“When we stop and listen to Nature, we learn to listen to ourselves. I work beside you to make space for this, and transform foreboding about climate change into a sense of agency about your part in repairing it.”

We vet each brand for their commitment to sustainability but we are not a certification body, nor are we auditors, and we have taken the approach that we trust brands to tell us the truth about their sustainability policies, practices and plans.
